Celebrating Raggy

Adventure Pawtraits’ Dog of the Year Winner

At Adventure Pawtraits, I’ve had the privilege of photographing countless beautiful dogs throughout the year in 2023. Each year, I hold the Dog of the Year competition to celebrate these amazing pets and their loving owners. The winner of the competition in 2023, a 15 year old Scottish Terrier named Raggy, holds a special place in my heart and in the hearts of her family.

Raggy, was the clear winner with an outstanding 180 votes. Her devoted mum rallied her friends and family to support Raggy in this competition, and their efforts paid off. Winning the competition came at a bittersweet time, as Raggy passed away at New Year. While her mum, Emma, is devastated by the loss, winning the competition has given her something to focus on and cherish in memory of her beautiful companion.

The prize for the competition winner is a luxurious 24” x 16” Renaissance Wall Art Frame, and Raggy’s mum had already purchased a multi-aperture frame along with a heirloom window box of prints. This prize frame will serve as a lovely addition to her cherished collection of memories.

Reflecting back on the photoshoot experience in July, the warm summer evening provided the perfect backdrop for capturing Raggy’s portraits at Barlaston Downs. Bathed in golden light, Raggy enjoyed the adventure in her pet stroller, occasionally pausing for sniffs and posing for the camera. Once we made it to the top of the hill Raggy loved taking in sights and led the rest of the way, trotting down the hill at her own pace as we admired her character. Her patience and grace made her the perfect model, and her special bond with Emma was clear to see throughout the entire shoot. Learning about Raggy’s life and witnessing her relationship with Emma was a heartwarming experience, and it’s evident why she was such a deserving winner of the Dog of the Year competition.

As we celebrate Raggy’s victory, it’s important to remember the precious moments captured in her photographs. Her spirit lives on through the lens, forever immortalised in the beautiful Renaissance Wall Art that her family will cherish.

In memory of Raggy, we honour the special bond she shared with her mum and the joy she brought into the lives of everyone she met. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have met and captured the spirit of such a remarkable companion.

I hope Raggy’s story inspires others to cherish the special moments they share with their beloved pets and to celebrate the joy and love they bring into our lives.

Thank you, Raggy, for leaving a pawprint on our hearts.
